Body Brushes… so many to choose from! Size, color, material, shape, different body parts and price. This is only a small list of what differences are offered for a body brush and to navigate the long lists of what websites have to offer can be daunting. I did a quick review of 5 brushes that we have at the barn. This review is of brushes that come in a variety of material, shape, price point and longevity.

First up! Left to right in picture. The Lettia Navajo Horsehair body brush. $17.00 I will be honest I am not really sure who owns this brush at the barn! It has been hanging out in the tack up area and I have used it a couple times! Somethings become fair game if they stay in the out too long at the barn! This brush is nice! It has a solid feel in your hand, the brush length is good for flicking deep dirt out of the horse’s hair and the quality in nice. I feel it is decently price for what it has to offer.
Tail Tamer Body Brush small $10.00 This little brush has been around for ever and to be honest I’m not sure if the link is to the exact brush, but it is very similar. This brush has been used so much it has lost it’s form and has dirt ground into its handle! I should probably throw it away but a little girl may show up who needs her first little set of grooming supplies. Great price point and has longevity.
Decker The Majestic Soft Inspirations Brush $9.00 I love this brush! It has a good grip to get a serious grooming on a horse and the bristles do a solid job. I love the fact it’s made in the USA and the price point is perfect for someone like me who has 30 different brushes and everyone uses them. If you need something to throw in the trail, leave at the hitching rail outside or just want something new, this is a good one.

Oster Soft Body Brush $17.00 This brush has a nice shape to fit your hand and the bristles are super soft. If I’m honest this is not the brush I reach for. While it has a nice shape, I feel it is heavy and the bristles are too short to get much done besides taking some dust off. I would rather buy the Lettia brush for the same price.
Borstiq Horse Brush $40.00 Need mud take off your horse? This would be your go to. As you can see from the picture this is not a “Sally” brush! The Pendlay’s have been at the barn a long time and know to clearly label their stuff! And, yes, I did put it back. This brush has a unique design, it light weight and the bristles are solid. If your horse isn’t sensitive and has predisposed to getting dirty, take a look at this one. I would still buy the Decker brush, but I don’t label my brushes and have close to 30 laying in random places.
