I hate to exercise!
I totally get it! Taking the time to do a work out when I can be relaxing and petting the dog in the morning with a cup of coffee sounds so much better! How about starting with just a minute a day? If there is one move that I would love for my riders to take the time to do it would be holding the plank for a minute a day. That doesn’t sound too bad now does it?
The plank works so many different muscles and can make a great improvement not only to your riding but also your posture. The basic muscles the plank works are your shoulders, core, quads, trapezius, rhomboids, lats, glutes and hamstrings….not bad for one simple movement!
This winter I challenged a client to doing a minute plank multiple times a week and we are both pleasantly surprised with the great improvement it has made in her riding. Her mare can no longer pull her forward and move on the forehand. This rider’s endurance has improved, she doesn’t collapse going through her corners and her hands are much steadier.
One exercise, one minute and so many great results!
