Getting it done with Tina Turner

No, I’m not talking about her song, Steamy Windows! I’m talking about her fitness routine and her spirit for life! She insisted if you take care of yourself, 60 is nothing theses days and in today’s world you can be the kind of woman you want to be. Tina has been an inspiration to me for multiple reasons. I love playing her music when I’m heading into a show, in fact I would love to do a freestyle to Better Be Good To Me with Alliance as I think it shares some parallels to our relationship over the years. I have also admired her zest for life through out her career and her fitness. She has been know for her legs and stamina during her shows…..so let’s get to it! We talk about our horses being fit for dressage, but what about their riders, can’t we hold ourselves to the same standards? This doesn’t have to be a ground breaking regime but just a steady pace. As Tina mentions, the key to making exercise a regular habit is to find something you genuinely love doing, so she danced! I know a lady who runs marathons with a group of ladies from her barn, they enjoy encouraging each other and creating camaraderie. At our barn we workout every Tuesday and Thursday morning before we ride. I wouldn’t say we create camaraderie as much as we complain, but we do get it done! You don’t have to do a crazy routine but as Tina says, find something you love to do and do it regularly. Hold yourself to the same standard as your partner and throw some Tina on and get inspired!

We are a third generation Morgan breeder and have a strong connection with this breed. Our passion is Morgans and the sport horse disciplines. We have personally shown Morgans for 20 years and have taken two of those horses to the Grand Prix level. We are USDF bronze, silver and gold medalists. We earned our gold medal on our Morgan stallion Iron Forge Starman. We strive to produce horses with excellent temperaments, correct conformation and free, uphill movement. These horses will excel in any sport horse discipline and make willing and loving partners. We have the adult amateur rider in mind when we plan our future breedings. We cross train our young horses in driving, trail and dressage so that they have an excellent start and can go into any discipline their new owner desires. It also keeps their minds fresh and willing to work. By the time they are placed in their new homes they have had a wonderful variety of experiences which makes them a reliable and sane mount. We offer many young horses for sale and training for all stages of horses. We also are available to give lessons to beginners as well as more advanced riders. Please contact us for availability and prices.
